Materials functional
Functional materials, or technical fabrics in sportswear, are fabrics and knits designed to support our body during physical activity, providing comfort, protection and better performance.
Their task is not only to "clothe the body", but above all to actively respond to external conditions and the needs of the user.
Functional fabrics – features and properties
Breathability, i.e. moisture wicking
Made from hydrophobic fibers (e.g., polyester, polypropylene), breathable functional materials used in sportswear are primarily responsible for transporting sweat from the skin's surface to the outside of the fabric, where it evaporates more quickly. This keeps your skin dry and your body cool. They are used in sports underwear (so-called "sweatshirts," popular among runners) and cycling jerseys. Of the many materials with similar properties to those used by Quest, Coolmax is the most popular.
Thermoregulation
Our thermoregulating materials, ensuring optimal air circulation, prevent body overheating during intense training or competition. Special ventilation panels and technical fabrics help maintain optimal body temperature in various weather conditions. Mesh (ventilated mesh)—most frequently used by Questsport—proves to be a reliable solution in this case.
Waterproof and windproof
They protect against rain and wind while allowing the skin to breathe. They are primarily used in running and outdoor clothing, as well as winter cycling clothing. This type of sportswear features special membranes or DWR (durable water repellent) coatings.
Compression
Quest sportswear made with compression fabrics is an example of the use of advanced technology in our industry. Compression materials—also known as "compression"—improve blood circulation, which in turn delivers more oxygen to the muscles, thus increasing their performance. That's why Quest cycling socks, for example, stabilize the calf muscles and accelerate recovery after intense exercise. This allows you to train more effectively, and fatigue sets in much later.
Flexibility
Stretch fibers (e.g., elastane) in Lycra provide optimal compression and fit, while guaranteeing freedom of movement and comfort. Primarily used in cycling jerseys and triathlon suits, the lightweight, flexible, and breathable construction of Quest sportswear adapts to your figure, ensuring complete freedom of movement and comfort even during the most intense workouts. Choose Questsport compression clothing and feel the difference from the very first kilometer!

Fabric or knitwear
Woven fabric vs. knit fabric – what is the difference and why does it matter in sportswear?
In the world of sportswear, choosing the right material is key to comfort and performance.
during training. We often come across the terms fabric and knitwear – although they sound similar,
they differ in properties that have a huge impact on how we feel in clothes.
-
Fabric
durability and elegance
Fabrics are created by crossing two sets of threads: warp and weft. This makes them durable, resistant to stretching, and retains their shape. They are used in applications where stability is essential, such as jackets, trekking trousers, and protective clothing. The fabrics are also great for running and outdoor wear, providing wind and abrasion resistance.
-
Knitwear
flexibility and freedom of movement
Knitwear is a material made from a single thread, forming interconnected loops. This makes it extremely flexible, lightweight, and pleasant to the touch. Knitwear fits the body perfectly (Lycra),
making them an ideal choice for cycling jerseys. They also provide excellent ventilation and freedom of movement.
Choice matters
In our collections, we carefully select the type of material appropriate for each product's intended use. Where comfort, fit, compression, and breathability are key, we choose knit fabrics. When durability and protection are essential, we choose woven fabrics.
Because the right fabric is the foundation of clothing that supports you in every movement. It's easy to distinguish knit from woven fabric by checking the stretchability of both materials. Woven fabric has relatively little elasticity, while knit fabric has much more stretch.
The two materials also differ in appearance and texture. Knit fabrics often have a visible weave (e.g., a subtle "V") and are soft and flowing. Woven fabrics, on the other hand, have a more pronounced weave (plain, twill, satin) and can be smooth or stiff.
